Recently, MB&F’s M.A.D. Gallery opened in Geneva. The kinetic art haven showcases Mechanical Art Devices and Horological Machines that hail from a slew of artists worldwide. The gallery’s mission is to showcase three-dimensional pieces “transcend a practical purpose” of timekeeping to become works of art. For instance, Frank Buchwald and Xia Hang exhibit pieces that emphasize construction, mechanics, and the raw quality of industrial beauty. In another space-age example, Tatsuya Matsui has created a robot to move with the same fluidity as the human body, merging the artistic preoccupation with the body and present day technology.
