This past week saw both the opening and closing of "24h Museum" at the Palais d'Iena in Paris. Sponsored by Prada and designed by Francesco Vezzoli with Rem Koolhaas' AMO, the installation was a fleeting artistic experience lasting - as its name implies - only 24 hours. The space opened with a private dinner on Tuesday, January 24 and displayed various sculptures devoted to the lasting power of femininity for one full day.

Francesco's work has always trended toward the spectacular and is often infused with celebrity: past pieces have included Veruschka embroidering at the Venice Biennial in 2001, Sharon Stone and Bernard-Henri Levy sparring in 2007, and Lady Gaga performing a tribute to Diaghilev at MOCA in 2009. This year's project was no less fantastic and included sculptures of Courtney Love and Natalie Portman on marble pedestals beneath pink fluorescent lights.  Also featured was a Madonna whose halo counted down the 24 hours until the museum's closing the very next day.
