Artist Michael Benisty has teamed up with Swarovski Crystal in the creation of his new piece, Die to Live, a larger-than-life crystal-encrusted skull to be presented for the first time in the US at the OC Concept Store in New York. Benisty has contributed photography to Whitewall over the years during which time he was introduced to Nadja Swarovski, the perfect collaborator to his already-underway skull sculpture. Swarovski was delighted to support Benisty in the formation of Die to Live. The piece took over a year to build and the result is an eight foot-tall, 1100-pound sculpture utilizing more than 300,000 golden black Swarovski crystals. The OC Concept Store is the perfect home for Die to Live as the store is known for showcasing provocative art and what better than a piece big enough to look its viewers in the eye and evoke symbols of life and death. The piece debuted in store on October 28 and will be in the store until November 14.
