Italian espresso company illy has opened a temporary gallery space to exhibit a variety of art and design events between London Design week and the Frieze Art Fair. The Galleria illy is meant to display the company's passion for art and design by showcasing outstanding artworks at events that will include some prominent artists and contributors to design, film, and
culinary cuisine. The project was directed by artist Michelangelo Pistolleto and his foundation Cittadellarte.
The exhibit started early in September when artists such as Marina Abromovic, Patricia Urquiola, Marcel Wanders, and Paola Pivi with David Cunningham presented, talked and performed. Coming up in October, Francesco Clemente will add his interpretation of the illy
espresso cup to a new installation that displays cups interpreted by other artists including Robert Rauschenberg, Jeff Koons, and Anish Kapoor.

Also that month are talks with more influential chefs, artists, and designers, such as Giorgio Locatelli, Hans Ulrich Obrist, and David Adjaye (recent winner of the Designer of the Year Award featured in earlier this week on whitewallmag.com). Galleria illy will be open to the public through October 16th and each guest who attends will receive a free cup of illy coffee.
