A fantastic response came at the Artists for Haiti charity sale that

took place September 22nd at Christie's, New York.
The event was hosted by Christie's, David Zwirner, and Ben Stiller
whose foundation (The Stiller Foundation) prompted the charity sale itself. Stiller 's foundation
works with a variety of other nonprofit organizations including Architecture for Humanity in support
of education and healthcare in Haiti.
of education and healthcare in Haiti.
Stiller partnered up with both Christie's and Zwirner to hold the benefit of donated work by prominent contemporary artists all the profits of which will be given towards Haiti relief. These profits totaled to an inspirational $13.7 million. The auction boasted 27 new and past works by 26 artists including Adel Abdessemed, Glenn Ligon, Nate Lowman, and Raymond Pettibon who each set auction records for their works. With four world records set and
two pieces sold for over a million dollars by Marlene Dumus and Luc Tuymans, the sale made records for a charity event and left no piece unsold. Zwirner remarked he was “overwhelmed by the support we were able to get for tonight's auction. We exceeded the high estimate of $10 million (…) we can now go to work on the much need humanitarian efforts to help the children in Haiti.”
The event was both inspirational and a success. An unlikely pairing of auction houses, galleries,
and artists who care enough to donate their name and work to a fantastic cause. Stiller declared, “We
are so grateful to all of the artists who dedicated their time and talent to help raise an extraordinary amount of money that will be utilized as efficiently and quickly as possible”
