CGI of Genesis by Adjaye Associates

David Adjaye, the internationally known Principal architect of Adjaye Associates, has been selected by Design Miami/ and the Global Forum for Design to hold the title of this year's Designer of the Year Award. The award includes the honor of international acclaim and a commissioned installation for the Design Miami/ fair.

Adjaye is known for his interactive pieces, which emphasize an amazing sensitivity to material and the play of light and shadow. Adjaye's projects include the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo, Norway; the Idea Stores in London, England which were nominated for the Stirling Prize; flood-safe houses built in New Orleans for the Make It Right Foundation; and the large-scale project Urban Africa that includes over 36,000 photos of urban environments throughout cities in Africa.

For his Design Miami/ commissioned piece Adjaye has created “Genesis”,
an accumulation of wooden planks formed around an oval shaped opening,
providing seating and windows for guests of the fair to congregate and
rest. Like much of his other work, “Genesis” invites curiosity and
uses dramatic light and shadow for an open, organic feel.
