This year's Baselworld recently wrapped, taking place from March 8-15, 2011. Whitewall was there to check out some of the top timepieces premiering this year. Timepieces from Artya, Chopard, and Jean Dunand were truly inspired by fine arts this year, something we always love to see!

Artya Artpiece 1/1

As committed to producing artfully conceived works of art as well as meticulously crafted timepieces, Artya’s showcased its model Artpiece 1/1. This piece boasts a hand-decorated dial that creates the impression of colored liquid and operates at 28,800 vph.

Hand-crafted in Switzerland by master watchmakers, this piece is available in either a satin finish or in a black PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating.

Chopard L.U.C XP Urushi

Combining mastery in watchmaking with the work of Japanese National Treaure renowned artist Kiichiro Masumura, Chopard presents the L.U.C XP Urushi timepiece.

Available for the first time outside of Japan, this collection is made up of nine unique dials that represent the elements of the universe utilizing the time honored Japanese technique of Urushi lacquering. Each is presented in an 18 carat rose gold case on a black and brown alligator leather band. This delicate yet inspirational piece has a power reserve of sixty-five hours and runs at a frequency 28,800 vph.

Jean Dunand Tourbillon Orbital “Dancing Koi”

Jean Dunand’s Tourbillon Orbital “Dancing Koi” showcases a lightweight gold dial decorated in a complex and highly engineered enamel painting. A symbol of longevity and luck, these captivating depictions seemingly float above the yin yang symbol, an image that is further framed by a platinum case set with ninety-two diamond baguettes (6.25 carats).
