Maybach held a dinner and charity auction last Thursday during Art Basel Miami Beach that just may have been the event of the week. After announcing a two-year partnership with Maybach earlier in the day during an unveiling of the sculpture Queequeq at the New World Symphony, Julian Schnabel auctioned off five of his works to benefit Sean Penn’s J/P HRO Foundation (J/P Haitian Relief Organization). Winning bidders included restaurateur Michael Chow, collector Peter Brant, and model Naomi Campbell. The dinner and auction were held at the Miami Beach New World Symphony Orchestra Building and guests like Tony Shafrazi, Alber Elbaz, Jeffrey Deitch, Andre Balazs, Bruce Weber, Ingrid Sischy, Sandra Brant, Sam Keller, Vito and Lola Schnabel, Rula Jabreal, and Angela Westwater were in attendance. The evening was a total hit and raised nearly $1 million for J/P HRO.
