Italian fashion brand Sisley held a gala for their exhibit of 18 motorcycle jackets last Wednesday at Palazzo Bovara in Milan. Of course, these were no ordinary motorcycle jackets. Each one was customized by 17 pop artists: Stefano Castronovo, Ronnie Cutrone, Robert Hawkins, Brad Kahlhamer, Marco Perego, Rita Ackermann, Frederick “Fab Five Freddy” Brathwaite, Dan Colen, Jane Dickson, Duncan Hannah, Nate Lowman, Lee Quinones, Tom Sachs, Kenny Scharf, Walter Steding, and Ouattara Watts. Several of these artists attended the gala, along with Alessandra Benetton, Executive Deputy Chairman of Benetton Group and Thomas Sokolowski, Director of the Andy Warhol Museum. Also in attendance was Glenn O’Brien, who curated the unique exhibit, which will be moved to the Andy Warhol Museum on view through November 8. At that time, the jackets will be auctioned off at Christie’s in New York and online at www.CharityBuzz.com. Sisley’s motorcycle jacket project is to benefit the Andy Warhol Museum.
