Building 110 on Governors Island is Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s (LMCC) Art Center, and its concluding gallery show for 2010, Floating World, opens today.

The group show features non-profit arts organization LMCC’s inaugural Swing Space artists-in-residence of Building 110. Jae Hi Ahn, Rachel Bacon, Jessica Bruah, David Colosi, Jessica
Feldman, Jenn Figg, The Friendly Falcons and Their Friend the Snake,
Wojciech Gilewicz, Moo Kwon Han, GH Hovagimyan, Intake Manifold/
Ouida Biddle, The Shining Mantis, Sungmi Lee, Sunghee Pae,
Birgit Rathsmann, Larry Shea, Hidemi Takagi, Work Progress Collective,
Chin Chih Yang, and Maeung Gyun You were chosen by a highly-selective jury process. As their place of work for several months, Building 110: LMCC’s Art Center at Governors Island provides artists with the practical resources to create, like studios and exhibition spaces, and more inspirational resources, like the nearby seaside and views of the New York City skyline. Curated by Erin Donnelly and Melissa Levin, Floating World showcases these artists’ works, all of which examine aspects of the “floating world” that is Governors Island through photography, video, sculpture, and installation.
