Commes des Garcons, the Japanese fashion label that has over 200 boutiques worldwide, recently joined in on the collaboration of designer Adam Kimmel and artist George Condo.

Condo and Kimmel first collaborated for Kimmel’s Fall/Winter 2010 collection, an assortment of luxury menswear and suits. Sounds pretty straight forward. However, each model wore a mask created by Condo in his clown-like, distorted portraiture, including a main recurring character dubbed “Uncle Harry.” Kimmel’s collection is appropriately labeled the Casino Collection, inspired by Condo’s “passion for gambling”. That explains the three minute video entitled “Casino Collection: Security Footage,” which films Kimmel and Condo’s newly produced garments in action at a casino.

Condo has been a staple of the contemporary art world since his first solo exhibitions in New York in the eighties. Following this collaboration, Condo has gone on to work with Supreme skateboard decks and Kanye West. So it seems, Kimmel is not the only one who is fascinated with the artist’s unique style and genre.

Inspired by Kimmel and Condo’s meeting of the minds, Commes des Garcons designed a t-shirt exclusively by the two featuring a picture of Uncle Harry in a Kimmel suit. The shirts will be sold at 10 Corso Como Comme des Garcons and Isetan Comme des Garcons in Tokyo and London’s Dover Street Market.
