Acclaimed fashion designer Carolina Herrera has been named the “Mercedes-Benz Presents” designer for this year’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Joining the ranks of Monique Lhuillier, Badgley Mischka, Narciso Rodriguez, and CHADO Ralph Rucci in earning this title, Herrera has demonstrated the originality and devotion that make her “a symbol of great success within the fashion industry,” said Lisa Holladay, Manager of Brand Experience Marketing for Mercedes-Benz USA.

This title has not been Herrera’s only honor. In 2004 she was named “Womenswear Designer of the Year,” and in 2008 she won the “Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award.” She has also designed for such celebrities as Renée Zellweger, Amy Adams, Michelle Pfeiffer, Emily Blunt, Oprah Winfrey, and Camilla Belle. And she has a lot more to celebrate in the coming months. On Fashion’s Night Out on September 10th, she will be opening the CH Carolina Herrera store at 802 Madison Avenue with guest illustrator Robert Risko and commemorating the 10th anniversary of her flagship store, also on Madison. Next year is the 30th anniversary of Herrera’s collection, which has come to include not just women’s fashion, but menswear, childrenswear, eyewear, handbags, and fragrances. “I am very proud to be chosen as the ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents” designer,’ said Herrera of her newest distinction. “To be recognized in such an important year in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week history, is, without question, a wonderful honor.”

The Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week runs from September 9th through 16th at Lincoln Center in New York City. Herrera will be debuting her spring/summer 2011 collection on Monday, September 13th alongside designers like Diane von Furstenberg, Hervé Léger by Max Azria, Vera Wang, Badgley Mischka, Christian Siriano, and Charlotte Ronson.
