Luxury watchmaker Parmigiani Fleurier SA, partner of Bugatti Automobiles, revealed its new Bugatti Super Sport watch this past weekend in Pebble Beach. Specially designed for car drivers, the timepiece has already been on the ride of its life. Bugatti test driver Pierre-Henri Raphanel wore it when he broke the land-speed record last month, hitting 267 mph in the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super Sport car, which was unveiled alongside the Bugatti Super Sport watch.
Created with similar designs in mind from their streamlined style to the black and orange color scheme, Bugatti and Parmigiani Fleurier SA have created, to Parmigiani Fleurier SA CEO Jean-Marc Jacot, “the essence of performance and design present in the world’s fastest car in the form of what is destined to become one of the world’s most iconic watches.”
The Bugatti Super Sport watch is certainly unique. Its machinations are set on a vertical axis, giving it the ideal readability drivers. It has a high-tech dynamometric crown, giving it superior functionality. The 90-degree time setting is also advanced, utilizing double pinions with bevel gearing so that the dial is perpendicular to the display access. And of course, the Bugatti Super Sport watch has been proven to withstand land-speeds of up to 267 mph.
