Yesterday, "Systematic" opened at 176 Zabludowic Collection, Anita Zabludowicz's exhibition space in London. It's a group show of eight artists who employ "natural and articificial systems" all selected from Zabludowicz's collection and is on view through August 15, 2010. Anita, who keeps an online diary of her art outings (worth following!) will appear in Whitewall's fall issue this September. Here's an excerpt from the piece she wrote for us, that includes meetings and studio visits that lead to "Systematic."
Where do I begin??? Every day for me is like an adventure; I feel like I am always hunting for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and I quite often come up with something much better.
During the day I visit an abundance of talent – London’s awesome...
11.00am - I drop into the Catlin Prize where we meet Medeia Cohen from University of the Arts London with whom we worked to launch and fund an ongoing Prize for their yearly "Future Map" exhibition.

Miyo Yoshido stands in front of her sculpture of a uterus which was sold on the black market for thousands of dollars - she shows her preggy stomach at the same time.
I buy a painting by Adam Dix and my second work by Sonny Sanjay Vadgama, both were part of the "Future Map" exhibition– they did not win the Zabludowicz Collection Future Map Prize, but the prize is not about my collection, it’s about who needs support at that point to take their work to the next level after their graduation from art school.
We also stop by Alex Dellal’s space, 20 Hoxton Square Projects, where Flora Fairbairn has put together a show called "Concrete and Glass." I meet a very young artist who had archived an old man in a council block’s whole life, and it was beautifully done.
12.30 pm – On the way to lunch I stop by Richard Woods’ studio – we’re going to work together to do a little house in Finland later this year.

1.30pm – Working lunch with Ellen and Lizzie about our next show "Systematic," they disagree with me about one of the Damien Hirst works for the show, but we reach a solution, hang it in the office instead! The show is all existing works from the collection as well as a commission by a young artist called Haroon Mirza. I am really excited to be involved in his work and facilitating a new installation by him. We just found out he is going to be in the British Art Show this year which is really exciting.
3.00 pm - I continue my journey with Lizzie, visiting local North London based artist Toby Ziegler who is beyond talented; I truly believe he is one of our future greats. Over a wonderfully studio-brewed tea care of Lizzie, we discuss a project for an exhibition at 176 Prince of Wales Road next year.
4.00 pm - We head off to Ryan Gander’s show at Lisson next to check out our new awesome acquisition and what a winner!!! It is a great work and will work equally well if on public or domestic display.
For the rest of Anita's diary, be sure to pick up Whitewall's fall issue out this September.
