Vanguard public art organization Creative Time held its annual benefit Wednesday night at Jing Fong in Chinatown. The cavernous dim sum restaurant was transformed into a flamboyant, neon-tinged party space befitting the event’s “Going Global” theme. Guests such as designer Thakoon Panichgul downed Blue Dragon cocktails while browsing the goods up for silent auction. These included works by Tim Hawkinson, Alfredo Jaar, Lawrence Weiner, and Raymond Pettibon, many of which garnered bids within the first few minutes of the auction. In total, Creative Time raised $1 million. The evening segued into an extravagant peking duck dinner and live auction presided over by Phillips de Pury & Company’s Alexander Gilkes.
