At this year's Baselworld, Patek Philippe, Breguet, Zenith, Blancpain, and Jaquet Droz presented new timepieces with classic inspirations.
Following the lines of tradition but with a modern twist, Breguet presented a remake of its classic model, the Tradition, Tradition 7057 in a white gold case. With an unconventional design, this timepiece features a hand wound movement and a 50-hour power reserve.
After five years of planning and designing, Patek Philippe unveiled its latest creation: the CH 29-535 PS. This model has a manually wound mechanical movement, column-wheel chronograph, chronograph hand and instantaneously jumping 30-minute counter with a seconds subdial. The CH 29-535 PS has an 18 karat yellow gold case with sapphire crystals displayed in the back and is attached to a hand stitched alligator skin strap.
Fascinated by the magic world of stones, Jaquet Droz created the Grande Heure Minute Onyx, a timepiece that represents the color of dreams and infinities. Jaquet Droz extended its creativity while preserving the wristwatch’s essential components by mixing the darkness of the Onyx stone with the glittering of the steel. The minutes counter is off-centered at nine o’clock and suggests a telescope exploring the immensity of the sky.
Zenith exceeded the expectations with its timepiece “El Primero 4052 B automatic calibre”. Housed in a 43mm case available in rose gold or stainless steel, this water resistant watch is the first timepiece to have a “foudroyante” function, also known as jumping seconds. As opposed to a 60 seconds hand, El Primero makes a rotation in 10 seconds. Scratch resistant sapphire case allows viewing the hand movement and the Superluminova allows its owner to view the time even in the dark.
The Carrousel Repetition Minutes Les Brassus is Blancpain's newest release. With a cathedral gong striking mechanism, its sounds are extra long! For the first time ever, that gong is combined with Blancpain's one minute flying carrousel, enclosed in a 45mm red gold case with white gold ring and red gold numerals. A perfect view of the minute repeater movement and hand carved details is reached thanks to the open dial center and sapphire case.
