ART BASEL MIAMI BEACH VERNISSAGE: On Wednesday December 2, Art Basel Miami Beach opened the doors at the Miami Convention center to a select group of VIPs for a preview of the fair. Miami collectors like Martin Margulies, Craig Robins, Leonard and Jayne Abess, Paul and Trudy Cejas were spotted alongside a crowd of Europeans, Russians, Los Angeles, and New York collectors. Sales reportedly started off early and continued at a satisfying pace for many collectors that evening and the rest of the week. Celebrities spotted at the opening night event included John McEnroe, Sly Stallone, Pharrell Williamson, Will Smith, and Steve Wynn.

DESIGN MIAMI/ VIP PREVIEW: Design Miami/ had its preview and VIP vernissage the day before the main fair. Greg Lynn’s design for Swarovski Crystal Palace soared overhead as some serious collectors filed in to view designs brought by mostly Dutch design galleries, with a  few New York booths peppered here and there. That evening, OKGO performed on Gibson guitars outfitted with fur and sponsored by Fendi.
