THE BOX AT NIKKI BEACH: Whitewall, the Kiptonart Foundation, and Patrick Duffy joined forces on Friday, December 4 to the Box at Nikki Beach. The Box, known as the racy burlesque club in New York flew south for the winter (albeit briefly) for a special Art Basel Miami Beach show. Other hosts included Matthu Placek, Scott Buccheit, Stephanie Newhouse, Vanity Fair’s George Wayne, Marlborough Gallery’s Marcia Levine, and Thomas Rom. There was a drag cowboy performance involving hula-hoops and a giant vagina (of course).

DAVID LACHAPELLE 1932 NEW YEAR’S BASH: David LaChapelle and Maybach held an event at the Raleigh on Saturday, December 6 that’s been at the top of everyone’s post-Basel coverage. It was to celebrate the unveiling of two LaChapelle creations that incorporated the limited edition Maybach Zeppelin. The event had a 1932 New Year’s Eve theme and featured synchronized swimmers, flappers, chiseled half-naked men posing on ice sculptures, and a bonfire that blazed late into the night. Things got crazy – as all New Year’s parties typically do – and it ended up being a night to remember, though I’m sure most guests failed to remember it all on Sunday morning.
