Half Gallery is currently showcasing work by the legendary skateboarder turned artist, Mark Gonzales. His show entitled “South West” (curated by Emma Reeves) features paintings done in watercolor and acrylic on materials ranging from paper to bowler hats and skateboard decks. “The Gonz” was influenced by the Southwestern-style rug patterns, and the colors and lines of his drawings reflect this inspiration. In addition to the paintings, Gonzales made a limited edition zine for the show which features drawings and poetry. This Renaissance man proves that his talents are not limited to tearing up the streets on his skateboard.
