MB & F always seeks to design watches that push the boundaries, and their Horological Machine No1 does just that. This year marks the end of the three-year production of their Horological Machine No1, and at Baselworld 2009, MB & F introduced the last two editions that have a limited production of only 10 watches per edition. One of the editions, the HM1-RS is a rose gold, three- dimensional machine that incorporates both technical and visual innovation.

Designer Eric Giroud, movement engineer Laurent Besse, and independent watchmaker Peter Speake-Marin worked together to create this radical design. The HM1-RS is a very unique timepiece that displays the time in a completely original way; it features the hours and minutes on separate dials. The watch has both automatic and manual winding, and its movement is comprised of 376 parts and 81 functional jewels. Furthermore, the single arm of the tourbillon cock and its full sapphire “skeletonized” dial allows for an unobstructed view into this spectacular movement. All of these components make HM1-RS a very distinctive watch that will be dearly missed. However, MB & F will continue to push the boundaries to create truly unique watches.
